Meet new friends - literature Festival on 2nd of June

Encountering and celebrating Arabic, Persian and German literature  Thursday, 2 June 2016, 4 pm to 7 pm at the Auditory of the SLUB Dresden

 

The SLUB Saxon State Library - State and University Library Dresden, together with Monday Café from the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and Dresden- place to be! e.V., invites to a get-together between Dresdners and new Dresdners under the theme "meet new friends".

 

Thursday, 2 June 2016, 4 pm to 7 pm.

At the Auditory of the SLUB Dresden in Zellescher Weg 18

 

The series "meet new friends" supports getting to know one another, the intercultural exchange and the twinning  between Dresden residents and refugees. The tandems are accompanied by the Cellex Foundation and Dresden - Place to be! e.V. The Staatsschauspiel Dresden has been continuously supporting refugees for over a year by networking with the local people at the Monday Café. The SLUB Dresden would like to invite all tandems and all those interested in intercultural exchange to the family program and a small buffet to meet each other. Guests older than 16 years can get a free library card and use the many services of the Library.

 

A literary tour “Rundum Buch / All around books” will provide the opportunity to get to know Arabic, Persian, English and German literature. Participants will be able to discoverinternational classics such as Cervantes, Mikhail A. Bulgakov or Chingiz Aitmatov and storytellers such as Rafik Shami . Additionally, the literary tour will present lyricists Najet Adouani and Granaz Moussavi, photobooks by Luna Al-Mousli and Mansoureh Shojaee and novels by Haifa Baitar, Sukri al-Mabhut and Fariba Vafi. Young book lovers will be able to page through Harry Potter books translated into Arabic as well as Persian. The literary tour will conclude with a multilingual book-reading in the auditory.
